A Message From Jake Wells, CEO of Jake Wells Inc.
Dear Reader,
You probably know that I don't make stock recommendations. However, I have two thoughts on how you could spend the next five minutes. I'm suggesting that you look at the work of two divisions of Jake Wells Inc. The operating companies and the personal projects.
I started out the way Mr. Buffett did, selling Coke. His went door to door in Omaha. Mine went across a school playground, a tray of 24 cans before 9.30am. Years later I helped build an insurance product for biBerk, a Berkshire Hathaway company. So this homage has a paper trail.
I estimate that about 60% of what I build never leaves my laptop. The figure is not 100% because some of it turns out to be useful to other people. Those are the things listed on this site. Most started as one annoying problem and a weekend. You can find out what I do for a living by going to www.meshedcover.com. Meshed is an insurance broker for small businesses. Software does the admin. Humans handle the edge cases.
The personal projects will almost certainly cost you less than anything else on the internet. They are free. A bookshelf of 162 books. A 3D model of my house. An app for watching Thursday football back in the pub. A studio app for a wedding flower business. None of them were required. All of them were worth it.
Every year I show this work to people who want a long distance look at what I've built and decide which, if any, they'd like to talk about. I do a huge amount of business in this low key way. Write to me at jake@meshedcover.com and we'll find a time.
Sincerely,
Jake Wells
